What you can expect out of a coaching session

Taking charge of your own nutrition and fitness through personal and group coaching is a fairly new concept over the past 5-10 years. It can feel like an investment that’s not worth making because you have never made it before. If you stick with what you have always done, though, you will get what you have always gotten.

In one on one nutrition sessions, we will discuss your current habits and assess your readiness to change. After we set a baseline, we will incorporate the addition of small habit changes. Together, we will set daily, weekly, and monthly goals that will lead to sustainable, healthy habits that will last you a lifetime.

Health is not linear. This means that no one’s health journey will look exactly the same. A single mom of three who works an 8-5 and doesn’t exercise does not have the same needs as a college student who is struggling with stress eating. And neither of these people have the same needs as a retired man who plays recreational tennis or golf 5-6 times/week but needs to lower his cholesterol. Every single person has their own unique story, which means there will be a unique approach to each person. As your coach, I completely understand this and will adjust to each person and their needs. Since health is not linear, it also means that health at different stages of life looks different, even within just one person. A woman’s health for example is completely different before, during, and after she gives birth if she has a child. Similarly, a sedentary person has different needs than an active person, and so on and so forth. Health looks different for each person at each stage of life, and that is where sustainable, holistic habits come in that will last you through ALL of these stages, for the rest of your life.

In our sessions, we will change your goals as you accomplish them, or to scale them back if they are too ambitious. Health and nutrition has a learning curve, and that is ok! Dieting creates an idea of restriction in our minds. We are not made for restriction. We are made to enjoy the creation that God has given us to the full. Therefore, I will never put you on a “diet” of any kind. What this also means is that the REAL change takes time. You will start to see results, but they will start in your mind before they manifest physically. This is because in order to heal our relationship with ALL foods, we must first shift our mindset. Don’t worry, the physical change will come too.

Maybe you don’t have a bad relationship food, but you just don’t know where to start with eating nutritiously! In a session like that, I would show you a few tricks to add in some great foods that fuel your body and how to portion them without putting any food on a scale or looking at a nutrition label.

There are so many facets of nutrition. My specialty is in shifting the mindset around dieting to be INCLUSIVE not exclusive. All foods are good foods. Adding in a few key habits to your everyday life with the help of a supportive coach that will hold you accountable is the secret sauce to TRUE habit change and the balanced life that you have always wanted to live.
